| Martha Smith was born in 1865 at Horry County, South Carolina, US.1 She was the daughter of Rev. John Travis Smith and Helen Victoria Allen. Martha Smith appeared on the census of 24 July 1870 at Dog Bluff, Horry County, South Carolina, US. She Martha Smith is a name I received from Mrs. Janet H. Woodard of Charleston, South Carolina. My research and hers corresponds for the children of John Travis Smith except for this Martha Smith. I have not found any evidence of Martha. I have however found an entry on the 1870 Census that indicates a Senetta Smith. Senetta Smith must have died at an early age and this is also the conclusion Mrs. Woodard has on Martha Smith. Because of this, I conclude that Martha and Senetta are probably the same person. But this has not been proven yet. Martha Smith also went by the name of Senetta. |
